About Us

Nonhuman Notions is completely community-run. Our goal is to support and share art, writing, and other projects from the nonhuman community. We have no central social media and work to try and connect nonhumans from every corner of the internet.

Nonhuman Notions is a safe place for systems of all origins, including endogenic systems. Systemhood and plurality are tightly interwoven with the nonhuman community. The newsletter aspires to be a safe place for these relationships to be explored and expressed. Nonhuman Notions will not tolerate the exclusion of any system because of origin or diagnosis status.

If you'd like to get in touch with us, our email is nonhumannotions@gmail.com.

Meet the staff!

Gillman

Howdy, I'm Gillman and I'm the creator and head editor of NN. I am currently studying English and Anthropology in undergrad and hope to work in either editorial work or archives and special collections. I love to crochet, kayak, hike, and play video games. I have four years of experience as an editor for a literary journal and three years as the production apprentice for another journal. Find me on Tumblr, Dreamwidth, and Nonhuman National Park! Thank you for supporting this little project of mine!

The Nonhuman Notions Logo takes the place of a profile picture. This staff member hasn't given me a photo to use yet, shame on them. The Nonhuman symbol with a different photo of nature in each corner between the outter circle and inner diamond. The top left is a sky with clouds, the top right is s starry sky, the bottom left is a wave in the ocean, and the bottom right is a meadow with mountains in the backgroun.

Frodo

Hullo! I am Frodo, one of the editorial and production staff members of NN. In my free time, I enjoy engaging with nonhuman--and adjacent--communities, especially through research and volunteering. In addition, I am interested in linguistics, gastronomy, music, dance, games, and cinema, among others. You may also find me on Tumblr and Nonhuman National Park!

A dark grey and red streaked canine figure with crystal blue eyes looks off to the right of the page. The backgound is a dusty cyan with a scribbled vingnette around the edges. A few white plants stick out from the bottom of the frame.

Black Shuck

hi! I'm Shuck. I'm on board to help out with editing and compiling works for the newsletters. I'm an arctic wolf who studies fish and wildlife (and really anything nature wise), as well as photography. You can find me on Tumblr and Nonhuman National Park.

Three chibi dragon heads with long necks looking to the right. They have a look of amazement and wonder on their cute faces.

Nova (Discount Ghidorah System)

S'up we're Nova and we are actually a whole flight of dragons masquerading as a person. We also identify as othervague and have a collective hydra linktype. We've been active in the alterhuman and nonhuman communities for 7+ years and can most often be spotting doing archival work or helping out at cons. Sometimes we even crawl out of our cave to host zines! Check out our website to see our work! Also our itch.io, and Tumblr

A blue-grey humanoid with four red eyes, an animalistic nose, and navy hair facing left and set against a bright blue watery background.

Q (Collective)

Hello, you can call us Q! We're a DID system with many fictive and nonhuman members, and we've been in and around the community for the past 15+ years! While we tend to lurk in the background of the community for the most part, we're currently behind-the-scenes as one of the social media managers for NN! Outside of lurking, we're interested in metal music, astronomy, scifi, and worldbuilding! You can find our hosts, Sal and Kris, on tumblr!

Three headshots against a dark to light blue gradient background. In the center, looking at the viewer, is a dark and light blue dragon with orange accents. On the upper left-hand side is a humanoid face with pale skin, mid-length purple hair, and brown horns. On the right-hand side is a green dragon with light grey hair and yellow eyes.

Voxel(s)

Hello all! We're Voxel(s). We're plural otherkin. We've been experiencing nonhuman and plural tendencies for almost as long as We can remember, and We've been around the alterhuman communities since about 2016. Our primary contribution here is HTML and CSS. Aside from Nonhuman Notions, We're a bureaucrat at the Otherkin Wiki, We run the Nylium Network (a website about Minecraft-alterhumans), and We run a discord server for alterhumans in the Great Lakes region. Our interests include Minecraft, computers, religion, and counterculture. You can find more (including contact info) on Our website at voxel [dot] gay.
